High School Counselor (7-12)

Description:

The Midland School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Counselor for the 2025-26 school year. We are committed to the success of our students in and out of the classroom. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for creating and maintaining a healthy and safe environment within the counselor's office and the school.
• Adheres to all school systems, protocols and policies that are developed. Maintains professional competence through participation in school provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
• Initiates, plans and participates in parent/guardian conferences and other contact, as well as sending written information home as needed, in a timely manner.
• Participate and lead PLC groups.
• Ability to foster a nurturing environment that respects all students and encourages them to do their best.
• Required to be a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in school activities.
• Ability to multi-task and act independently; exercise sound judgment.
• Confidentiality: Required to respect the confidentiality of information about enrolled children and families, personnel issues, contributors, and other school operations, as per FERPA regulations and policies.
• Works well with and communicates effectively with the Principal and other administrators to promote a safe and healthy learning environment for the students we serve. 
• Serves as a valued member of the School Guiding Coalition.
• Ability to create a master schedule and schedule student classes in a timely manner.
• Must have strong record keeping skills to keep track of educational information for individual students (graduation requirements, transcripts, community service hours, GPA, student financial aide, student scholarships, etc.)
• Must be fluent in eSchool student management (registration, records, course code management, schedules etc.)
• Maintains a valid Arkansas teaching license registered in the manner provided by law during employment.
• Fulfills other assigned duties as prescribed by the Principal/Supervisor.
